Digital curation manages, maintains, preserves, and adds value to digital information throughout its lifecycle, reducing threats to long-term value, mitigating the risk of digital obsolescence and enhancing usefulness for research and scholarship. IDCC brings together those who create information, those who create and manage it, those who use it and those who research and teach about curation processes.
2 November 8-9 11: APA, Alliance for Permanent Access Conference, London
This year’s APA conference addresses the theme “Putting the infrastructure in place for digital preservation” and brings together leaders in the field from Europe and around the world, including academic, large scientific research, industrial and commercial stakeholders.
The keynote speaker will be EU Commissioner Neelie Kroes, Vice-President for the Digital Agenda.
3 Oktober 19-20 11: Digital Preservation Summit 2011, Hamburg, Deutschland
Digital long-term preservation has become an important topic for almost every library, archive and museum. Preservation and long-lasting usability of valuable digital cultural and scientific holdings are central challenges the digital society is facing.
The Digital Preservation Summit 2011 addresses major issues of some of the first necessary tasks in the process of a successful and sustainable digital preservation practise.
4 Oktober 4-5 11: EuropeanaTech, Wien
The EuropeanaTech conference will explore some of the key technical challenges that Europeana, EuropeanaConnect and other projects are currently dealing with. Following the spirit of collaboration, which has inspired Europeana and its projects so far, we will address and investigate key issues together.
5 September 25-29 11: International Conference on Theory and Practice of Digital Libraries 2011, Berlin, Deutschland
The European Conference on Research and Advanced Technology for Digital Libraries (ECDL) has been the leading European scientific forum on digital libraries for 14 years. For the 15th year the conference was renamed into:
International Conference on Theory and Practice of Digital Libraries
The conference will continue to bring together researchers, developers, content providers and users in the field of digital libraries. TPDL 2011 is organised by the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (Berlin School of Library and Information Science, the Computer and Media Services and the Department of Computer Science).
6 September 21-23 11: DC-2011, Den Haag, Niederlande
The eleventh International Conference on Dublin Core and Metadata Applications, will take place at the National Library of the Netherlands in The Hague from 21 through 23 September 2011. The National Library of the Netherlands (KB) fosters the national infrastructure for scientific information and plays an important role in the permanent access to digital information at an international level. The KB has been involved in many international research projects in the field of digital libraries and hosts the offices of The European Library and Europeana. The European Library Office is coordinating the local organization of DC-2011.

10 Juni 22-24 11: 15th International Conference on Electronic Publishing ELPUB 2011, Istanbul, Türkei
Digital publishing software and applications for mobile devices will be highlighted along with the integration of their functional capabilities such as location awareness with digital resources. Methods by which digital content can be repurposed for mobile devices and mobile users will also be discussed, as they have different browsing, reading and viewing habits.
11 Juni 13-17 11: JCDL2011, Joint Conference on Digital Libraries 2011, Ottawa, Kanada
The theme for JCDL 2011 is "Digital Libraries: Bringing Together Scholars, Scholarship and Research Data", in recognition of the changes the digital age is now bringing to scholarship, broadly writ. Publishing models are changing, along with the breadth of digital material that must be managed coherently in the context of users forcing the move from information silos to a landscape of interconnected systems supporting scholarship for both research and education.

13 Mai 23-25 11: Aligning National Approaches to Digital Preservation, Tallinn, Estland
The Aligning National Approaches to Digital Preservation conference developed out of a series of conversations between the Educopia Institute, the U.S. Library of Congress, the University of North Texas, Auburn University, the MetaArchive Cooperative, and the National Library of Estonia about the need for a forum where preservation programs from different national contexts can share information with each other for the purpose of building strategic international collaborations to support the preservation of our collective digital memory.
